Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure the quality of foreign language teaching provided to tourist guide candidates in educational institutions and to examine the effect of teaching quality on their intention to practice the profession. Data were collected from students studying in the undergraduate tourism guiding departments of Mersin, İskenderun and Nevşehir HBV universities between September 20 and December 30, 2022. Data were collected through a survey according to the convenience sampling method and 385 surveys were obtained. Descriptive statistics, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analyses were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results obtained, students perceived the quality of foreign language teaching in five dimensions and their intention to practice the profession in one dimension. Significant differences were found between the students' perceptions of the quality of foreign language teaching and their demographic characteristics.
