Abstract

Technology has significantly influenced human behavior and has impacted many fields,
including the food and beverage industry. QR code menus, which became widespread during
the COVID-19 pandemic, have provided benefits such as contactless access to content. Due to
increasing competition, businesses seek to utilize this technology. QR menu technologies have
also been studied and published in the academic field. Within the scope of this research, a total
of 34 studies focusing on food and beverage establishments were selected from 589 studies
obtained from the Google Scholar database by filtering the years 2019–2024 and using the
keywords “QR code menu” and “gastronomy,” and a situational analysis was conducted. These
34 studies were examined using the bibliographic analysis method. Eight different aspects were
addressed: publication year, research methods, data analysis techniques, countries, languages,
types, citation counts, and keyword co-occurrences. The distribution of studies by year showed
that the highest number of studies was conducted in 2022. Qualitative research methods were
identified as the most commonly used approaches. In data analysis, descriptive, content, and
statistical analysis methods were observed. As a result, this study examines the trends in the
literature of academic research focusing on QR code menus within the context of food and
beverage establishments.
